A Lotus in Orissa Power Sector
For all of us, you were a pillar of strength
Who dealt our problems, listened at length
Today, your leaving casts a spell of doom
A sense of bereavement, a sense of gloom
In this estranged world, very few care –
Parentage and compassion, qualities so rare.
The Chanakya of the Sector, we salute you,
You played your cards, keeping Orissa in view
A man of integrity; a symbol of duty;
A role model of honour, of rare simplicity
Your tariff design and setting of rules
Has shown India the path; given us the clues.
In the annals of reform, you are Orissa’s face;
None before, none after, can take your place!
We hope, your effort will not go unsung,
The Sector will turn around in short run
Worshipping heroes – not a cult of your State
A great son carved his bust, before it was late.
A ‘Padma’ award, to this lotus of the sector
History will bestow the right place in future
This rich land with people so poor,
Cannot give you any, only ask for more.
Wish you health and courage to give further
As your contribution, will light their future.

THE MEASURE OF A MAN
A tribute to Shri Sital Kumar Jena
An eulogy is not the thing.
For many a mediocre man
Has usurped praise
By virtue of office
And many a fool
Glorified by fate.
The true measure of a man,
Is what he does
Not what he seems to be.
How he plays his many roles,
What he leaves behind
In the tangible and intangible
The changes he brings about
The things he builds
The battles won and lost.
The men who love him
And those that fear him
How many he has led
And who emulate him.
The respect he inspires
Long after his chair is gone
The devotion given to him
Unsought
The memories he leaves behind
In passing.
In all these Sir
You have stood the test
A man for all seasons
An officer and a gentleman.
